Israel

Columbia/Barnard Hillel views Israel as both an end in itself (a core value of Jewish life) and as a means to engage our students in a conversation about themselves as individual Jews and as members of the Jewish people. Our Israel-focused student groups span the full spectrum of Israeli politics and culture. Our Birthright Israel programs allow our students to travel to Israel for the first time. Hillel strives to create a space for Hebrew language to flourish, with Hebrew programming for everyone from beginners to experts in the language. We also screen Israeli films, celebrate Israeli national holidays and house Café Nana, a taste of the Middle East right in the Kraft Center.
